Dear Parents and Families of Encanto,

Welcome to the new school year!  I am Mrs. Mandler, the principal of Encanto Elementary. I am proud to be starting my fifth year as the leader of this marvelous school and my 19th at Encanto.  I began as a classroom teacher here in 2002 and became the resource teacher in 2010. It is an honor to serve our students, families, and community.

The start of the school year always brings a thrill and despite the year beginning online, the teachers and staff have dedicated their time to create online learning environments that are welcoming for all children.  We are committed to ensuring that our school, both online and on campus, is bully-free and anti-racist. As a staff, we are engaged in learning and dialogue to examine our practices, curriculum and operations to ensure we meet the needs of our students. We believe Black Lives Matter and stand together with our families and community in eradicating racism.

As a Two-Way Dual Language Immersion school, students spend 50% of their day in English and Spanish. We believe bi-literate children become successful global citizens. Our Benchmark Education Curriculum aligns the English and Spanish Language Arts and provides additional support to students who need it.

Our TK – 1st grade students will use the platform SEESAW to receive lessons and submit work. Our 2nd-5th grade students will utilize Google Classroom. All teachers will provide real time instruction for all students daily though Zoom. Each teacher will reach out to families to ensure you have the needed information for your child. We believe that all of our Encanto Eagles will SOAR to great heights as we work together to unlock the genius in every learner on our campus.

As parents, you are a key component in the partnership that ensures that all Encanto Elementary students receive a high-quality education in a safe, collaborative and inclusive environment. I look forward to working together to foster and strengthen our partnership over the coming school year.  I encourage you to participate in online school activities and special events such as Back to School, Coffee with the Principal and Coffee with the Counselor. Information will be shared through School Messenger, email, Class Dojo and our website. If you have any questions or ideas, please feel free to contact me at amandler@sandi.net.  I will respond within 24 hours to your questions, comments, concerns, and suggestions.

Thank you for taking the time to read about Encanto Elementary. More than any of the details, I hope you take away that we are here to support you and your family at this challenging time. Let’s continue to be kind to one another, practice good hygiene, maintain social distancing, wear our mask, and always let us know if we can do more to support your family.

I Am, Because We Are,

Audra Mandler
